Batam Received Support of 20 Thousand Corona Test Kits from Singapore

Batam - The Singaporean government through the Consulate General (Consul General) in Batam provided support to the Batam City Government, in the form of 20 thousand test kits to stop the spread of Corona or COVID-19.

This assistance was handed over by the Singaporean Consul General in Batam Mark Low and received directly by the Mayor of Batam and Head of the Batam Business Entity Agency (BP) Muhammad Rudi at VVIP Hang Nadim International Airport, Batam, Friday (3/4/2020) night.
Singapore Consul General in Batam Mark Low, detailing the 20 thousand test kits came from the Singapore Government, consisting of the Singapore Ministry of Health as many as 10,000 test kits and the Singapore Temasek Foundation as many as 10,000 test kits.
Mark explained that this test kit is not a rapid test, but a swab test that has a higher level of accuracy.
"In addition to the test kit, we also submitted two sets of Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) tools for Batam. As for the Riau Islands Province Government, we delivered 750 complete sets of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)," Mark said.

Mark added, this is not the first time Singapore has provided support to Indonesia, especially Batam. Previously, the Singaporean government and Singapore's combined workers in Batam had donated 205 complete sets of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to the Batam City Government.
"There are still 4 sets of ventilators from the Temasek Foundation. But because this tool is quite difficult to obtain because it is out of stock, so maybe we can submit it to Riau Islands Province in two months," Mark said.
Meanwhile, Rudi, greatly appreciated the support provided by the Singapore Government, in this case the Singapore Consul General.
He admitted that his party had been waiting for this support so that the examination of residents indicated COVID-19 could be carried out starting Monday (6/4/2020).

Rudi said that currently the COVID-19 handling task force had conducted a sweep, and there were 2,065 people to be tested immediately.
"That is just the general public, not including employees, both the City Government and BP Batam. With the presence of this assistance we can immediately test, and work is calmer," said Rudi.
Rudi conveyed that this assistance would later be handed over to the Ministry of Health which had complete facilities, and also this tool would be used by medical personnel at the regional government referral hospitals. Then the examination of the residents will be examined at the Hajj Dormitory and Rusunawa Sagulung.
"We will submit the results to the laboratory," said Rudi.

He targeted 2,065 people indicated that Covid-19 could be tested entirely in the next two weeks. Meanwhile, as a preventive measure, he will tighten physical distancing for people who do not obey government policy to stop the spread of Covid-19.
