Chinese citizen robbed by two Iranian impersonating police officer

BADUNG, kanalbali.com - Kuta police have arrested two Iranian, Shiraziniya Azad (53) dan Shirazi Nia Hossein (41), for allegedly robbing a Chinese citizen. The victim who is in holiday with his family, Long Zhihong (46), lost a total of US$ 1,400 from the incident.

In doing their act, the two suspects impersonated police officer. Denpasar Police chief, Sr. Comr. Ruddi Setiawan, said the incident was happened on Wednesday, Jan. 30, in front of Kuta Centre Park Hotel on Jl. Patih Jelantik, Kuta, Badung, Bali.
The victim was walking with the family when a car suddenly approached him. From the car, Azad and Hossein said that they were police’s drugs squad. They told the victim that they should check whether the victim have drugs. “The suspect Azad conducted body search to the victim and grabbed a wallet from the victim’s pocket. When he pretended to check the wallet, Azad took money from the victim’s wallet,” Ruddi explained, adding that Hossein was in the driver’s seat. After stealing the money, the suspects left the victim, He realized that his money have gone from the wallet later. “The victim lost a total of US$ 1,400 from his wallet,” Ruddi said. Once realized that his money have been stolen, the victim decided to make a report with Kuta Police. Investigation conducted by police was started from CCTV footage from the crime scene, which showed number plate of the car. It was a white car they rented for US$120 a week. Police finally arrested the suspects in front of a restaurant on Jl. Raya Tuban, Kuta, on Friday, Feb 1. The two suspects are now facing a maximum 5 years imprisonment. (Kanalbali/KAD)
