Meet Bonbon, Orangutan saved from smuggling attempt in Bali

DENPASAR, kanalbali.com - Bonbon, thats how he is called by the Bali Natural Resources Conservation Agency ( BKSDA) officers who care for him after he was saved from a smuggling attempt at I Gusti Ngurah Rai international airport on Friday night, March 22. He was much better after the incident, as seen on video taken at BKSDA office on Saturday morning.

The two years old orangutan was drugged and put inside a small basket by a Russian man, RA, who tried to smuggle him to Russia.
ZA told the officer at international departure area that he brought a monkey. However, the officer found baby orangutan inside the basket. ZA said that he bought the orangutan for $US 3000.

The officer also found two geckos and five lizards from the Russian's suitcase. The case have been reported to the airport police for further investigation. (kanalbali/ZTE)
