Mount Agung erupts twice on Sunday

KARANGASEM, kanalbali.com - Mount Agung in Karangasem, Bali, erupted again for the second time on sunday, March 17, 2019. After the first eruption 8.03 a.m. , the volcano erupted again at 10.30 a.m. central indonesia time (WITA).

Agung volcano's observatory recorded the second eruption was followed by spewing of ash column up to 600 meters from the peak. In the first eruption this morning, the column of ash up reached only 500 meters from the peak.
Earlier on Friday, March 15, Mount Agung has also erupted. The volcano spewed a column of ash up to 1,000 meters from the peak.
"The alert status for Mt. Agung is maintained at third level," The Volcanology and Geological Disaster Mitigation Center (PVMBG) said the report.

The Center also declared that the danger zone is still within a radius of 4 kilometers from the peak. People living in the slope of the mountain, as as tourist, are warned to stay away from the danger zone. Most Bali area is safe to be visited.

Bali disaster mitigation agency head, Made Rentin emphasized that his team have increased alertness following the two eruption this morning. "We urged people to stay calm and increase alertness. People can still doing their activity normally outside the danger zone," he said. (kanalbali/KR12)
