Mount Agung spews lava, ash

KARANGASEM, kanalbali.com - Mount Agung erupted again on Thursday, spewing column of ash up to 2,000 meters from the crater. The rumbling volcano had also spewed lava during the eruption.

The volcano observatory in Rendang Village, Karangasem, recorded the eruption at 6.47 p.m. local time with column of ash up to 2,000 meters from the summit. The eruption was recorded in seismogram with maximum 25 mm amplitude, a 2 minute and 8 second duration.
Senior official at The Center for Volcanology and Geological Disaster Mitigation (PVMBG) Devy Kamil Syahbana said that the eruption had spewed lava, as it was a strombolian eruption. “It was a strombolian eruption,” Devy said.
Devy said that the eruption was not transient, as it was not happened continuously. The center maintained the volcano’s alert status at level three. The danger zone remains within a 4-kilometer radius from the crater. (kanalbali/KR12)
