Stockholm (June 29, 2019). Expanding the business opportunities is the focus of the topic for promotion by Indonesia abroad. “West Java … the most attractive province for domestic and foreign investors with a contribution of 31 percent of national investment”, said Ambassador Bagas Hapsoro.
He welcomed some prominent companies attending the working lunch hosted at the Embassy of Indonesia in Stockholm. Among others were IKEA, Scania, Supertext, NIR (International Council of Sweden Business Industry) and Business Sweden.
Bagas hopes that during the West Java Governor’s visit to Sweden 26-27 July 2019, prior to the participation of West Java province in the “Kampung Indonesia Festival” in Stockholm, the discussion of trade and investment will take place between Swedish businessmen with the West Java Provincial Government.
Roberta Dessi, Director of IKEA appreciated the Embassy’s efforts for having the coordination meeting prior to the Governor’s visit. She further said that her company responsible for developing and supplying the global IKEA range. “That means that we work throughout the whole value chain - from supplier to customer. From the needs and wants of the many people, through product development and the sourcing of raw materials, to a product’s end-of-life”, stressed Roberta.

Another comment was from Daniel Vahlne of Supertext. He offered that the step taken by Supertext to use digital communications among farmers in Purworejo could also be explored to other provinces including West Java. While Alessandra Cornale, Program Director of NIR highlighted the NIR mission is inter-alia to support the Swedish companies abroad. “NIR has presence in approximately 20 countries around the world, where we work to support our members as well as local businesses and organisations to succeed with sustainable business and investment”, stated Allesandra.
It should be noted that Scania has been presence in Indonesia. Johan Gembäck of Scania mentioned that his company could response transportation challenges. TransJakarta Bus Rapid Transport system is considered to be the world’s longest busway, serving more than 10 million passengers monthly. “We certainly welcome Governor Kamil visiting Stockholm next month”, added Johan. “In short, choosing Scania is the best solution for technology, investment and preservation of environment”, saying Johan.

André Nilsson from Business Sweden mentioned that he received many advices from Swedish friends on how to make the Governor visit effective and will make a great matchmaking. As the largest economy in Southeast Asia, Indonesia is for many companies a natural destination for investments and a place to do business in. “Our Swedish companies are proud to be part of Indonesia’s remarkable growth journey and look with determined optimism towards the future”, said André.
Ambassador Bagas stated that on July 26-27 2019, the Indonesian Embassy will organize cultural and arts festival at Kungsträdsgården. There would be thousands of visitors attending the two-days event in 2019. The main concept of the event is to showcase Indonesia’s beautiful and diverse culture through music, songs, dances, culinary, coffee and crafts to promote Indonesian tourism by inviting travel agents and airlines. The Swedish companies are invited to showcase their visions and missions in Indonesia. “It would be great to see the ideas which demands collaboration, and the collective strengthening of Indonesia and Sweden’s collaborations and innovations”, concluded Bagas.
