Berikan Protein Initiative has been named one of the winners of the prestigious ASEAN Blue Innovation Challenge (ABIC), standing out among more than 1,341 innovators from across 10 ASEAN countries and Timor Leste. ABIC is a collaborative program organized by Association of Southeast Asian Nations (The ASEAN Secretariat), United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and The Government of Japan. This initiative seeks to foster innovative solutions that enhance the sustainability of the region's blue economy while addressing environmental challenges that directly impact coastal and marine ecosystems.

As part of this achievement, Berikan Protein joins 59 other groundbreaking innovators for a six-month innovation program designed to tackle critical challenges: sustainable fisheries, marine plastic pollution, sustainable tourism and climate change. Berikan Protein Initiative presented an innovative project titled "Berikanpreneur," which focuses on empowering coastal women in Indramayu, Indonesia.
Through this initiative, the project will establish production facilities to develop local high-protein food products, aiming to improve the capacity of these women and create additional income opportunities for them. By leveraging local resources and skills, the initiative supports both nutritional improvement and economic empowerment in coastal communities.
Berikanpreneur model will be recognized as a scalable solution for economic empowerment and nutritional improvement, helping reduce malnutrition and support women’s economic independence across Indonesia’s coastal regions.

This initiative aligns with our mission to tackle malnutrition and empower local communities, especially women, by providing sustainable solutions that improve both health and livelihoods," said Maqbulatin Nuha, CEO of Berikan Protein Initiative.
The ASEAN Blue Innovation Challenge aims to identify and support innovative solutions that contribute to the sustainability of Southeast Asia’s blue economy, and Berikan Protein's selection underscores the project's potential to make a meaningful impact.
