"Exile" mengangkat isu komunikasi dalam sebuah hubungan. Liriknya mengisahkan pertemuan dua orang yang pernah saling mencintai.

Di verse pertama lagu tersebut, Vernon menggambarkan perasaan seseorang yang kebingungan melihat betapa cepat sang mantan untuk move on.
