Many hours later, she came to the witch’s cottage. The stepmother peeped through the window. She cried when she saw the two children.

She picked up the broom leaning against the door and walked inside slowly. The witch was putting some stew in the crock when the stepmother gave her a push. The witch fell into the crock and the stepmother shut the door.

“Children, I have come to save you. I have done an awful thing. I hope you’ll forgive me,” she said hugging them tightly. .

They returned to their home and they lived happily ever after.
