KLATEN, Central Java — Nestled in the heart of Klaten Regency, Central Java, lies a pristine natural spring known as Umbul Brintik, which has become an increasingly popular destination for both local and international tourists seeking natural attractions off the beaten path.

Located in Malangjiwan Village, Kebonarum District, Umbul Brintik showcases the region's rich geological heritage with its crystal-clear freshwater spring that maintains a constant temperature throughout the year. The spring's natural pool, approximately 1.6 meters deep, offers visitors a unique swimming experience in pure spring water.
"Umbul Brintik is one of our natural treasures that shows the abundance of water resources in Klaten," says Hamid Kusnanto, secretary of the local village. "The spring produces around 40 liters of water per second, making it an important water source for the surrounding community.
"The site has undergone significant development in recent years, with local authorities adding various facilities while maintaining its natural charm. Visitors can now enjoy amenities such as changing rooms, rest areas, and food stalls serving local delicacies. The addition of wooden platforms and steps has made the spring more accessible while preserving its natural state.

What sets Umbul Brintik apart from other springs in the region is its therapy pool with therapist. The densest pure water content in this Umbul Brintik is unique compared to other umbul.
"We've seen a steady increase in visitors since we improved the facilities," explains Franky, an umbul manager. "Many people come here for therapy, as the water clarity is exceptional, especially during morning hours".
The spring's popularity has contributed significantly to the local economy, providing employment opportunities for residents who now work as therapist, food vendors, and facility maintenance staff. The local government has implemented strict environmental protection measures to ensure the spring's sustainability.
Accessibility to Umbul Brintik has also improved, with regular transportation available from Klaten city center. The site is open daily from 4.30 AM to 5.30, with nominal entrance fees that contribute to its maintenance and development.
