A Chance to Proof Your Language Move

On Mondays night (11/7), the teachers from Language Supervisory Council and the senior students from OSDAQU Central Language Improvement held a grand final competition event, The Language Olympiad 2022 grand final at Daarul Qur’an Boarding School Tangerang on the basketball field after praying Isya.

Before the event starts, there’s the appearance of hadrah from the boarding school students while waiting for guests and judges to arrive at the event, KH Ahmad Jamil and KH Saiful Bahri attended the event with other guests from the housekeeping department and head of caretaker.

Then the event starts with amazement when lights scatter around the stage. After that a short clip plays that the story continues on stage and the master of ceremony opens the event with 3 languages that are English, Arabic, and Japanese. Then Kyai Jameel gave a welcoming speech about his experiences with language, and he encouraged to the students of Daarul Qur’an to never afraid to learn new languages, “because we can control the world with language,” Kyai Jamil’s said.

After a stunning opening, it was the moment been waiting for, the public speaking and storytelling final. There are 9 contestants that consist of 3 English public speaker, 3 Arabic Public speakers, and 3 Storytellers. There’s Ihsan Fadhil from 11 grade, he performs an English speech about the story of Qarun and how pride and greed brings his legacy to a pathetic end. Then the second, Naufal Ghozi from 9 grade brought a speech in Arabic. Everyone was amused when Ziyan from 8 grade brings the story of Sigale-gale with fluent english accent and dramatic acting.

The reason why this event was held is that the student can have a site to content creativity and skill. So they can fully develope their potential using language with the accordance of Daarul Qur’an vision and mission to brought generations of leaders in establishing future Islamic civilization. With the theme of this year Language Olympiad, “Make Your Move, Give Your Proof”, so the students can make their move in showing their language skill. So, they can prove for their potential in the future.
