Unique facts. Bigger than an actual city, Jakarta, that has an estimated area of 661,5 km². King Fahd International Airport (KFIA) is the largest airport in the world located in Dammam, the capital city of Eastern Province covering an area of 77.600 hectares.

In 1983 KFIA is constructed and then completed in 1999 by Yamasaki & Associates architects with AeroSystems international. The airport is designed to handle about 12 million passengers.
The terminal for passenger covers an area around 3.520.00 square feet and it is equipped with 66 reserved customer counters for Saudi airlines and 44 for foreign airlines. In its massive six story passenger terminal, it has a mosque built on the roof top and accommodate 2.000 worshippers.
KFIA also set their own 177.000 square feet royal terminal where it was designed to serve the royal family, senior governments officials, and other foreign officials.
