Poetry is one of the most famous literature works, it is commonly liked and admired due to the conciseness and beauty of it. The words of poetry often move and affect the reader's heart easily. Because, the words are very poetic and the rhyme really complements the words. Poetry teaches us that words are very strong, words can be very deep and they can really resonate with humans on an intense level. Poetry began in ancient civilizations, but it dealt mainly with religion, storytelling and rituals. Poetry has been evolving in style ever since. With the rise of social media, poetry has adapted to fit new platforms. That’s where Instapoetry emerges. This modern form of poetry keeps the core elements of traditional poetry but is shorter and more visually appealing, making it suitable for platforms like Instagram.

Instapoetry refers to poems that are primarily shared on the social media platform Instagram. Most of the time, these poems are simple, brief, and include images. They tend to focus on topics that are relatable to a wide audience, such as love, self-discovery, mental health, and personal growth. Since social media users frequently scroll through their feeds, many Instagram poetry are created to quickly grab readers' attention. Because of this, poetry may now be read by a wider audience than it could in the past because it is now simple to consume and accessible.
Poetry has been experienced in a completely new way due to insta poetry, particularly for those my age. As a 20-year-old, I see how the fast-paced digital world makes long, complex poetry less appealing to younger generations who are constantly multitasking and scrolling. This new poetic style is ideal for our way of living. It's brief, unfiltered, and captivating visually, much like a snapshot of emotion. It's great because you can enjoy and relate to it without having a profound understanding of classical poetry. Poetry communicates in everyday language, so practically anyone may understand it, regardless of education or background.

I've seen that Instapoetry has made poetry more accessible to a wider audience. Poetry was traditionally studied in school, sometimes by authors who were regarded as authorities or literary giants. But everyone can suddenly be a poet thanks to Instagram poetry. Some of the most well-known Instagram poets aren't academics with fancy degrees in writing; rather, they're just talented at communicating their ideas and emotions in a way that connects with other people. This gives it a wonderfully motivating quality because it demonstrates that poetry may be significant even when it isn't complicated or challenging. In actuality, the allure and elegance of Instapoetry are frequently found in its simplicity.
The way that Instapoetry has combined poetry and visual art is another intriguing feature of this genre. The design and layout of the text often play just as much of a role as the words themselves. It is something that traditional poetry could not really offer, which depended entirely on words. It’s almost like the poems become little works of art, where both the visual and verbal elements work together to create an emotional impact. This is exactly in line with how younger generations interact with content both visually and conceptually, especially my peers.

But as much as I enjoy Instapoetry, it also raises questions about whether this short form of poetry can truly capture the depth of emotion or thought that longer, more traditional poetry can. Some critics argue that because Instapoetry is so short and sometimes lacks the intricate use of language or structure, it can come off as superficial or cliché. However, I think the value of Instapoetry lies in its relatability. Maybe it doesn’t always dive into the same complexity as traditional poetry, but it speaks to the emotional experiences that so many people, especially young adults, face today like heartbreak, anxiety, and the search for self-identity. It may not always be "deep" in the traditional sense, but at least it’s real.

Instapoetry is a reflection of our generation's communication style, not only a trend. Instead, it is a new era of poetry, where poetry on social media is more relevant. It indicates that while technology may transform the way we connect with books, it doesn’t lessen the importance of emotional expression. In fact, by making poetry more approachable, Instapoetry may be inspiring more individuals to write or read more about their own creative endeavors. And that, in my opinion as a student, is extremely powerful because it demonstrates that poetry is alive and well and simply changing along with the rest of the world.
