So, what made Frieren become the most popular anime in MAL? 葬そう送そうのフリーレン (Sōsō no Furīren) or Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End anime started written in manga by Kanehito Yamada and got illustrated by Tsukasa Abe. the first announcement about Frieren manga is on 2020, April 28 by Weekly Shonen Sunday. Frieren manga writing is still ongoing until now in 2024.

This anime was produced by MadHouse studio. As anime lovers, we know that MadHouse studio has the great visual work and story lining that make a wholesome season of anime. The visuals of the Frieren anime are great and it’s giving relaxing vibes. The instruments are produced by Evan Call, he is an amazing composer of multiple anime like Violet Evergarden and many more. The relaxing music of the Frieren anime makes viewers feel so comfortable.

This Shonen manga is different from other Shonen. Frieren has a majestic beautiful view and calm story that readers can feel through the manga. If other Shonen show how they fight by shouting, screaming, and yelling meanwhile, Frieren shows the opposite. The weakness of Frieren manga is, we can not feel 100 percent of the calmness, but in anime adaptation, the entire series hits another level of majestic, calmness, comfortable, and beautiful plus the musical of the anime.

The story tells us about a party that has defeated the Demon King and returned home together before they disbanded. The members of the party are Frieren as a mage, Himmel as a hero, Heiter as a priest, and Eisen as a warrior. After defeating the Demon King, a reminisce party is about to begin for 10 years of adventure to kill the Demon King. The Reminisce is going well and each of them make a promise together to get along once after 50 years to get a view of falling stars.

Frieren makes a promise come true by returning after 50 years of dibanding party. 4 of them gather together in the same town before leaving and make another beautiful journey for the last time. The journey was not as intense as it was 60 years ago like when the first 4 of them did before. It’s because each member is getting older, especially for Himmel. Meanwhile, Frieren and Eisen are not human such as Himmel and Heiter. Frieren is an elf and Eisen is a dwarf that both of them can live longer than human beings. After the second journey that they has made, Frieren and 3 of them split up and do their own life.

Frieren has a warm heart that is insensitive to human beings. She always thinks that we shouldn't rush through life because we always have time for living in this world. Knowing that humans can’t live longer like elf and dwarf, she thinks that it’s normal as human beings to have a short life span. But suddenly, news about Himmel the hero's death, she can't hold her tears and starts blaming herself that she's not indifferent to human beings especially for Himmel.

Realizing that she has to learn more about human beings and she has to learn it by making another journey to the North. While making a journey to the North, Frieren is not alone but she has a companion that accompanies her. Fern and Stark become Frieren friends to the North. The story has not ended yet, their journey is still going on.

Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End is a great anime with slow flow but still can compete with other big anime on the MAL platform. As an anime lover, this show is very suitable for those who like a relaxed flow with some moral message in it. This show doesn’t need to take it seriously but the watcher needs to feel it emotionally to get a better experience. Maybe this opinion just can be relatable for some people. Otherwise, these opinions are not relatable for who like noisy fights or something else.
