In the business world, significant changes have occurred with the increasingly massive use of digital technology. Artificial intelligence is being utilized more and more today, along with automation in various fields.

This was conveyed by Dr. Alvin Jason Aunario Virata from St. Dominic College of Asia (SDCA), Philippines during a seminar and lecture organized by the International Program of Communication Studies (IP-COS) at Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY). The seminar, which also served as a public lecture, was themed “The Digital Workplace Gauntlet: Navigating the Challenges of the Remote and Tech-Driven World” and was held on Thursday (April 17).

“Students must prepare themselves by mastering digital technology, as the professional work environment demands digital literacy skills. It’s about how students prepare and develop themselves to face an increasingly digitalized business world. To succeed in a digital work environment, professionals must develop technical skills, adaptability, and soft skills,” said Virata. As a visiting professor at IP-COS UMY, Virata gave an example of how ChatGPT has been widely used for various purposes.
The ChatGPT platform, which recently launched its newest image generator, now allows users to create images in the distinct style of Japan’s Studio Ghibli. The new feature released by the U.S.-based company enables users to produce images in various styles, including photography and animation in the Ghibli aesthetic, which has sparked debate.

“We cannot reject the existence of artificial intelligence or AI like ChatGPT, but there must be usage limitations, and ethics must be prioritized,” Virata emphasized.
