PerbesarDalam bahasa Inggris, kalimat dibagi menjadi dua yaitu kalimat aktif dan kalimat pasif. Kalimat pasif fokusnya berada pada objek yang menerima tindakan, bukan yang melakukannya. Contoh kalimat pasif bahasa Inggris ini bisa digunakan sebagai referensi.
Perlu diingat, kalimat pasif dalam bahasa Inggris dibentuk dengan menggunakan kata kerja bantu "to be" dalam bentuk yang sesuai, diikuti oleh kata kerja dalam bentuk partisipasi lampau (past participle).

Dikutip dari buku Panduan Praktis Menerapkan English Grammar dalam Percakapan karya Drs. Thursan(a) Hakim (2007: 27), kalimat pasif diawali dengan pelaku yang merupakan sasaran (objek) dari kata kerja yang ada dalam kalimat tersebut.
Rumus: Subject + to be + Past Participle (verb 3) +By + Object
Agar lebih mudah dalam memahami rumus tersebut, berikut adalah contoh kalimat pasif bahasa Inggris dan artinya yang bisa digunakan sebagai referensi pembelajaran:
The Jurasic Park Movie was watched by us yesterday. (Film Jurasic Park ditonton oleh kami di bioskop kemarin).
Santi was picked up by Andri in her house at 19 o’clock last night. (Santi dijemput oleh Andri di rumahnya jam 7 kemarin malam).
That monument was built by governor year ago. (Monument itu dibangun oleh gubernur setahun yang lalu).
