"Bongs', mobile phones seized in kerobokan prison raid

BADUNG, kanalbali.com - Five glass pipes or "bongs", 14 mobile phones, and 1 powerbank are among illegal stuff have been seized from Kerobokan prison during a raid on Friday night (1/3)). The raid was jointly conducted by police, military, narcotic agency (BNN), law and human right ministry Bali office, as well as the prison guards. A total of 902 personnel was involved in the raid.

The two hours raid also found 1 unit DVD, 1 unit television, 2 unit rice cooker, 6 scissors, two bank account book, as well as 8 equipments including hammer and screwdriver.
Bali's law and human right ministry division head for correction Slamet Prihantara emphasized that the raid was initiated by the prison governor. The prison asked support from related institutional, including police that lead the raid.
Slamet said further investigation would be conducted by the prison related the finding, especially after five bongs were found during the raid. Bong is usually used by drugs user. However, no drugs was found during the raid.
"Further investigation would be conducted, especially after we found bong, but we couldn't find 'the friends'," Slamet said referring to drugs.

Slamet added that the prison will also ask assistance from police.
Kerobokan prison governor Tonny Nainggolan said that the raid was held to make sure the Nyepi Day of silence celebration would runs condusive. The raid is also conducted to anticipate any security problem ahead of the presidential election in April.

Denpasar Police chief who led the raid, Sr. Comr. Ruddi Setiawan, said that the police would continously watch the prison. He said that many drug suspects told police that they get the drugs from prison. "We will be closely monitoring the prison, although we did not find any drugs today," he said.(kanalbali/KR12)
