Seven injured in Bali earthquake

usa Dua, kanalbali.com - A 5.8-magnitude earthquake that hit Bali on Tuesday, July 16, has caused at least 7 people injured. The quake also damaging 44 buildings, including schools, temples, houses, and hotel.

The Bali Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) Bali reported that there are six students from elementary school and junior high school suffered minor injuries, mostly caused by their panic reaction when the earthquake happened.

Two student of SD 1 Ungasan elementary school got injured in the head, two student of SMPN 2 Kuta Selatan junior high school got injured in the hand and temple. The other two are student of SMPN 5 Mendoyo in Jembrana, West Bali, who also got minor injuries. Meanwhile, one teacher of SD 1 Ungasan was reportedly got injured in the head.

The earthquake occured on Tuesday morning, at 8.18 a.m , 83 kilometers southwest of Nusa Dua. The earthquake could be felt across Bali, on Lombok Island and in some parts of East Java. No fatalities have been reported. Bali has back to normal activity soon after the earthquake.

The earthquake has damaging many buildings, mostly school buildings. The Balinese-style entrance gate of The Nusa Dua tourism area also damaged. A hotel in Nusa Dua area was also damage, as the tile roof fell down.

"At least 44 buildings are reported affected by the earthquake. Mostly in southern Bali," said the head of BPBD Bali, Made Rentin.
