“Joy to the World” merupakan salah satu lagu Natal klasik yang liriknya diciptakan oleh seorang pendeta sekaligus komponis musik asal Inggris, Isaac Watts. Lagu ini kembali populer setelah dinyanyikan ulang oleh Mariah Carey pada tahun 90-an.

Lirik lagu “Joy to the World” sebenarnya ditulis berdasarkan isi dari Psalm 98, 96:11-12 dan Genesis 3:17-18. Melalui interpretasi pribadinya, Isaac Watts melakukan parafrase ayat-ayat tersebut ke dalam lirik berisi pujian dan sukacita.

Meski sudah dirilis sejak 1719, “Joy to the World” masih menjadi lagu yang sering diperdengarkan setiap menjelang Natal. Lagu ini juga telah diaransemen ulang dalam beberapa versi oleh banyak penyanyi, salah satunya Mariah Carey.
