Unmasking Aggression: The Heinous Face of Israel in Breaching International Law

The recent assault by the Zionist regime on the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Damascus constitutes yet another flagrant violation of international laws and conventions by this illegitimate regime.

Following a six-month intensification of the Zionist regime of Israel's attacks on Gaza, which included the slaughter of innocent Palestinian women and children, the obstruction of humanitarian aid into Gaza, and repeated violations of international humanitarian law, the regime has now breached the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, which prohibits attacks on embassies and consulates. The launch of six missiles from F-35 fighter jets of the Zionist regime at the Iranian Embassy's consulate in Damascus at 16:45 on Monday, April 1, 2024, resulting in the martyrdom of seven Iranians, serves as further evidence of this regime's disregard for international norms and laws.

This act of terrorism occurred merely seven days after the United Nations Security Council's resolution for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza was adopted; a resolution that, despite being vetoed three times by the United States, was finally passed with the United States abstaining. However, the Zionist regime has yet to implement it. The regime's persistent violation of international laws and its defiance of a United Nations Security Council resolution reflect its desperation and inability to realize its long-held dream of expanding its territory from the Nile to the Euphrates and extending its influence in the Middle East—a vision Tel Aviv has pursued over the past 75 years through various means, including attempts at Palestinian genocide, repeated assaults on Gaza, Syria, and Lebanon, targeted assassinations of key resistance figures, and conducting terrorist operations in regional countries.

Despite these heinous acts against human rights and international law over seven decades by the Zionist regime, not only has there been no effective action taken by the international community to halt the crimes of this regime, but support from the United States and some Western countries has served as a green light for the continuation of its crimes and further violations of international laws and norms.

Even though seven decades have elapsed for the global community to understand the true nature of the Zionist regime, it is not too late for global and international actions to be taken to stop the crimes of this regime. The attack on the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Damascus is tantamount to an attack on the soil of this country and will undoubtedly have consequences for the Zionist regime of Israel. However, timely and effective action by the international community can prevent further deterioration of the situation on both regional and international scales.

It is imperative and urgent that this act of terrorism be condemned in the strongest terms by the global community and the United Nations. Notably, Indonesia, a friend and brotherly nation to the Islamic Republic of Iran, condemned Israel's attack on Iranian diplomatic sites in Damascus as a violation of international laws and the United Nations Charter in a social media post on X, less than 18 hours after the attack, stating that this assault, like other actions by Israel, would lead to an escalation of conflicts and obliterate the prospects for peace in the Middle East.
