Lazimnya, exposition text sendiri hanya terdiri dari dua jenis, yaitu analytical dan hortatory. Analytical exposition adalah teks eksposisi yang tidak disertai saran, sedangkan teks hortatory exposition adalah teks eksposisi yang disertai saran. Biasanya, teks ini dapat berupa esai atau surat bagi editor/surat kabar.

Ada berbagai contoh exposition text yang dapat dijadikan sebagai panduan penulisan. Mengutip dari buku Rangkuman Bahasa Inggris SMA karya Elang Yudantoro (2010:30), berikut ini contoh exposition text yang bisa dicermati dengan baik.
1. Why Exercise is Important
The Majority of us claim that we do not have time for exercise. We feel too busy to do that. However, many experts says that exercise has great role in making our body healthy.
Being physically active offers many advantages. In physical reward, exercise can help reducing body weight and making our body fitter. Exercise is also believed to reduce stress levels, improve sleep patterns, and reduce the risk of heart disease, diabetes and some forms of cancer.
Besides physical advantage, exercise also brings good effect mentally. Due to the fitter body, exercise can make us feel refreshed and happy, increasing our life quality and expectancy.
How can we exercise while we are busy? Such question is commonly found among us. Actually, exercise can be done in simple ways. We can go walking while shopping. We can take the stairs rather than the lift at the office. Or we can go cycling while enjoying our leisure time.
After all, doing exercise is difficult in a busy life but a little exercise will help us feel better.
2. Is Smoking Good For Us?
Before we are going to smoke, it is better to look at the facts. About 50 thousands people die every year in the UK as a direct result of smoking. This is seven times more than by traffic accidents. Nearly a quarter of smokers die because of diseases caused by smoking.
Ninety percent of lung cancers are caused by smoking. If we smoke five cigaretters a day, we are six times more likely to die of lung cancer than a nonsmoker. If we smoke twenty cigaretters a day, the risk in nineteen times greater.
Ninety five percent of people who suffer of bronchitis are people who are smoking. Smokers are two and half times more likely to die of heart disease than non smokers.
Additionally, children of smoker are more likely to develop bronchitis and pneumonia. One hour in the smoky room, nonsmoker breathes as much substance causing cancer as if he had smoked fifteen cigaretters.
Smoking is really good for tobacco companies because they make much money from smoking habit. Smoking, however, is not good for both the smokers and nonsmoker's health.
Struktur Kebahasaan Exposition Text

1. Thesis
Bagain thesis sama seperti teks pada umumnya. Pada bagian ini memuat pandangan penulis tentang suatu permasalahan secara sederhana. Tidak hanya itu saja, salah satu bagian exposition text ini berisi tentang perkenalan topik atau ide pokok.
2. Series of Argument
Dalam series of argument terdapat penjelasan lanjutan hasil dari keterangan sederhana di dalam thesis. Pada bagian ini penulis akan memberikan beberapa argumen maupun pendapat yang mampu mendukung pembahasan ide pokoknya.
3. Conclusion
Conclusion adalah paragraf penutup yang berada di akhir teks. Bagian ini memuat penegasan kembali dari ide pokok yang dimuat pada paragraf pertama.
