Dalam pelajaran bahasa Inggris, terdapat salah satu materi mengenai recount text. Teks ini menceritakan kembali suatu pengalaman kepada pendengar. Memahami contoh recount text dan strukturnya tentu akan memudahkan siswa dalam membuat recount text.

Recount text memiliki tujuan untuk menghibur atau memberikan informasi kepada pembaca. Berbeda dengan jenis teks lain, recount text ini memiliki ciri dan strukturnya tersendiri dalam penulisannya.

Sebelum memahami contoh recount text dan strukturnya, ada baiknya memahami pengertiannya terlebih dahulu. Mengutip buku New Edition Big Book Bahasa Inggris SMP Kelas VII, VIII & IX, Yuniar Bestiana, dkk (2017:299), recount text adalah teks yang menceritakan pengalaman penulis.

Recount text ini berfokus pada menceritakan kejadian di masa lalu. Recount text juga memiliki strukturnya tersendiri. Terdapat tiga struktur utama dalam recount text. Berikut adalah struktur dari recount text yang dapat dipahami.

1. Orientation

Berisi informasi mengenai tokoh, tempat kejadian, kapan, dan bagaimana hal tersebut berlangsung. Informasi tersebut diperlukan pembaca untuk memahami atau mengetahui jalan ceritanya.

2. Events

Berisi cerita kejadian atau pengalaman yang disampaikan penulis secara berurutan.

3. Re-orientation

Berisikan rangkuman dari kejadian atau peristiwa. Penulis dapat mencantumkan pendapat serta kesan terhadap pengalaman atau kejadian tersebut.

Menulis recount text sesungguhnya merupakan hal yang mudah apabila memahami strukturnya. Berikut adalah beberapa contoh recount text dan strukturnya yang dapat dipahami dan dijadikan referensi.

Contoh 1

Came Late to School

Orientation:

Last Monday, I came late to my school because I played playstation until 2.00 am in the night. Because that I woke up late.

Events:

I woke up about 6.45 am and the class would be began at 7.00 am. I ran to bathroom to take a bath. I usually had a breakfast after took a bath, but in that day I did not do that.

I always went to school by my motorcycle. But in that day, I forgot where I put the key. So, I went to the school by public transportation. It made me took a longer time. I arrived at school at 7.30 am, I ran to my class but I saw my teacher has stood in front of the class to teach. I entered to my class and of course my teacher was angry to me because I came late.

Re-orientation:

It was my bad experience and I hoped I would not do that again.

Contoh 2

Fun School Trip to Borobudur Temple

Orientation:

Last year, my school held a school trip to Borobudur Temple. We went there by bus. We left our school at 10 p.m. in order to get there by the morning.

Events:

After we arrived there, our teacher bought us the tickets for us. Then we went up to the top of the temple. That was an amazing structure I have ever seen and the surrounding view was great. We learnt many things about Borobudur Temple there. Finally, after we finished the tour at the Temple, we went to the hotel and stayed for a night to continue our trip the next day.

Re-orientation:

It was an exhausting trip but we were so happy to visit Borobudur Temple which is known as the greatest ancient structure in Indonesia.
