Contoh kalimat pasif dalam bahasa Inggris perlu dicermati dengan baik. Pasalnya, pola yang tersusun dari kalimat tersebut berbeda dengan pola kalimat pasif dalam bahasa Indonesia.

Dalam bahasa Inggris kalimat pasif disebut dengan passive voice. Pada kalimat ini, predikat inti yang bermakna pasif (di/ter) yang subjeknya dikenai tindakan atau perbuatan.

Pada umumnya, pola dasar yang terbentuk dari kalimat pasif adalah to be + V3. Mengutip dari buku Big Bank Soal + Bahas Bahasa Inggris SMA/MA Kelas 1, 2 & 3 karya Tim Tentor Pakar (2013:19), berikut ini contoh kalimat pasif dan rumusnya yang perlu diketahui.

1. Kalimat Pasif Bentuk Simple Present Tense dan Simple Past Tense

Rumus: To be ( is, am, are, was, were) + V3

Contoh:

• The article is typed by Winwin.

• The report is submitted by Jaemin.

• I was asked to answer the question by him.

• My money is stolen.

2. Kalimat Pasif Bentuk Continuous

Rumus : To be (is, am, are, was, were) + Being + V3

Contoh:

• I am being called by Raka.

• The ball is being kicked.

3. Kalimat Pasif Bentuk Perfect

Rumus : Have/has/had + been + V3

Contoh:

• The order has been delivered by Cantika.

• He had been hurt.

4. Kalimat Pasif Bentuk Perfect Continuous

Rumus: Have/had/has + been + being + V3

Contoh:

• My breakfast has been being eaten.

• The film had been being watched.

5. Kalimat Pasif dengan Modal

Rumus: Modal + be + V3

Contoh:

• That kind of songs can be sung.

• I will be paid tomorrow.

6. Kalimat Pasif dari Kalimat Aktif yang Memiliki Dua Objek

Bila kalimat pasif dibentuk dari kalimat aktif dengan dua objek yang berurutan, maka objek pertama dari kalimat aktif tersebut yang menjadi subjek pada kalimat pasifnya.

Contoh:

• Kalimat aktif: My father gave me money.

• Kalimat pasif: I was given money by my father.

7. Kalimat Pasif dalam Bentuk To Infinitive

Rumus: To + be + V3

Dalam kalimat aktif beberapa kata kerja seperti want, allow, hope, decide, intend, ask, need, tell, order, promise, beg, require, advise, try, like, love dan wish diikuti oleh to +infinitive.

Contoh:

• I want my secret to be kept by you.

• I wish you to be helped.

8. Kalimat Aktif dalam Bentuk Gerund

Rumus: Being + V3

Contoh:

• She declined the offer of being transfered to Brazilia.

• I have finished being asked about the case.

• Facing hard time people with very low income are looking, forward to being supported by the well to do in getting the daily basic necessities.

• The wet shoes need to be dried.

9. Kalimat Pasif dengan Impersonal It

"Impersonal it" pada kalimat pasif digunakan bila kalimat aktifnya menggunakan subjek berupa people, everyone, dan everybody yang diikuti that clause.

Contoh:

• It is said that the man is very kind.

• It is known that he is a good singer.
