In the midst of a digital world, Gen Z grew up in an environment full of gadgets, social media, and readily available information. So, how does this shape their character? Check out this article to find out!

Openness to Multiple Views

Technology allows Gen Z to connect with people from different parts of the world. With easy access to information, they can broaden their horizons and see many perspectives. This contributes to the formation of a character that is more open and tolerant of different cultures, religions and worldviews. However, this can also lead to identity confusion as they are exposed to so many conflicting choices.

Independence in Decision Making

One of the positive impacts of technology for Gen Z is their ability to search and access information quickly. They are more independent in making decisions because they are used to searching for information independently through the internet. Technology teaches them to be more confident in solving problems and making decisions, although sometimes they also tend to look for quick and instant solutions.

The Impact of Social Media on Self-Confidence

Social media is a big part of Gen Z's lives, often influencing how they view themselves and others. While it can be a confidence booster if they receive a lot of appreciation, social media can also be a detrimental means of social comparison. Gen Z's character is also shaped by the pressure to look perfect or follow viral trends, which can sometimes undermine their true confidence.

Conclusion

Technology, with all its conveniences and challenges, does have a huge impact on Gen Z's character formation. While it gives them independence, openness and broad horizons, the influence of social media and excessive access to information also brings its own challenges in shaping their confidence and identity. Most importantly, we must be wise in directing this generation to utilise technology in a positive and beneficial way.
