Active Voice and Passive Voice

Melansir buku Rangkuman Bahasa Inggris SMA, Elang Yudantoro, (2010:119), jika active voice adalah kalimat aktif, sehingga subjeknya melakukan suatu tindakan, maka passive voice adalah kalimat pasif, di mana subjeknya dikenakan suatu tindakan.

Karena subjek dikenakan suatu tindakan, maka ketika menulis passive voice, kata kerja yang digunakan adalah kata kerja bentuk ketiga (verb 3). Selain itu, di depan kata kerja tersebut, harus disisipkan to be, seperti am, is, are, was, dan were.
