Indonesia especially Yogyakarta have many kind of culinary. For the past few years, some restaurants and hotels begin to add Yogyakarta's traditional cuisines to their menu. This menu has its lovers. When we explore Yogyakarta, people will find out that this region not only has Gudeg as traditional food but there are also Sate Klatak, Wedang Uwuh, and many traditional menus you can find.

Hunting traditional cuisines will become a new and interesting experience once you get to Yogyakarta. Stan Pajdzinski, The General Manager of Novotel Yogyakarta, agrees that Indonesia especially Yogyakarta is rich in culinary varieties. What he like most namely Sate Klatak and Wedang Uwuh.

"I love it, the taste is deep, interesting, different in some other regions. I enjoy it. And my chef has a headache with me because oftenly I order," said Stan during Accor Culinary Journey 2020 Launching at Garden Extension Novotel Yogyakarta on Thursday (30/1/2020).

Sate Klatak and Wedang Uwuh have each own unique in the way of cooking. Sate Klatak is a dish using a young lamb and is cooked by the skewer. It different from satay people usually find in Indonesia from the size of the meat and also it takes perfect ripeness.

Chef Roni, the one who cooks this dish said that they use an iron for cooking is to make sure that the meat is perfectly ripe.

"It cooked in traditional way with iron so that it will perfect cooked," said Roni.

Different from usual satay which served with peanut sauce, Sate Klatak is served with curry broth. Of course, it will take satay lovers into a different experience of eating satay.

Besides Sate Klatak, one of the legendary culinary in Yogyakarta is Wedang Uwuh. Wedang Uwuh comes from the Javanese language. 'Wedang' literally means drink and 'uwuh' means trash. Surely you're not misreading it. This beverage consists of dried leaves and herbs. These beverage ingredients look like trash.

This beverage consists of secang, cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, and ginger. Wedang Uwuh has a sweet and spicy taste with a bright red color. Besides the inconclusive appearances, Wedang Uwuh could relieve throat, refresh and warm the body.

Because of its uniqueness, Stan adds those two menus to the culinary journey recommendation. The background is some of the Indonesian people have not explored the culinary because they stuck only with popular culinary.

"What really surprised me, alots of Indonesian not really aware about indonesian food because they just really know about soto ayam, nasi goreng, but in fact if you really interested in Indonesian food, there's thousands of different dishes based on the ikan, based on the beef, based on the variety of vegetables and like I've said before hundreds of herbs," said the man who has stayed in Indonesia dor the past 7 years.

Through that campaign, Stan hopes that Indonesian people and also people from other countries who visited would familiar with other Indonesian dishes and they will be proud of the richness it's culinary.

"They just stuck in a number of Indonesian dishes but if they do culinary journey like what we're doing right now is open minded and you see, my goodness in fact hundreds different dishes," said Stan.
