Over two days (July 29–30), kumparan visited several sports and community spaces in Canggu to investigate claims of exclusive foreigner-only venues.
We found no discrimination between locals and foreigners. Some venues offered different pricing—but locals actually paid less. One running club also postponed its regular run after the recent controversy, despite saying it has always welcomed everyone.
Our findings support the Bali governor’s statement that there are no longer exclusive clubs in Bali.
